The Cowboys have added yet another Pro Bowler to the NFC roster and one that has become a familiar faces to the Pro Bowl Games.<\/p>\n
KaVontae Turpin is back for the third straight year after being added as an alternate kick returner. Seattle’s Rashid Shaheed is one of the six Seahawks who will not participate after Seattle advanced to the Pro Bowl on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Turpin is the only Cowboys return specialist in team history to make multiple Pro Bowls as a kicker returner and just the second player all-time, along with Deion Sanders, who was also selected as a cornerback in 1998.<\/p>\n
And with his third selection, Turpin is now among some of the best returners in NFL history. Recently-named Hall of Famer Devin Hester made four Pro Bowls as a returner, while Josh Cribbs also had three. Former Panthers returner Michael Bates, actually played for Dallas in 2003, had five Pro Bowl selections in his career.<\/p>\n
Turpin set all sorts of Cowboys records this year, including most net yards with 2,351, surpassing DeMarco Murray (2,261 in 2014). Most of Turpin’s yardage came from kickoff returns, where he set the Cowboys’ single-season records for attempts with 69 and yards with 1,814 \u2013 which both also led the NFL this year.<\/p>\n
Turpin is now the seventh Cowboys player selected to the Pro Bowl Games this year and the second replacement player along with tight end Jake Ferguson.<\/p>\n
The initial five to be selected were Dak Prescott, George Pickens, Quinnen Williams, Brandon Aubrey and Tyler Smith.<\/p>\n
