The Atlanta Falcons<\/a> announced a handful of staff updates on Monday morning, hiring a new special teams coordinator, retaining multiple assistants and adding a former NFL general manager to the front office.<\/p>\n

Veteran special teams coach Craig Aukerman will officially replace Marquice Williams after five seasons in Atlanta, and former Detroit Lions<\/a> general manager Bob Quinn has been named the Falcons senior advisor to the head coach.<\/p>\n

Aukerman spent last season as the special teams coordinator for the Miami Dolphins<\/a>, and has 15 years as a special teams coordinator or assistant special teams coach. He spent seven years with the Tennessee Titans<\/a> (2017-2023).<\/p>\n

Quinn was the Lions GM for five seasons (2016-2020), going 35-42-1. He was fired following the 2020 NFL season. While Quinn’s tenure as GM got off to a promising start, things went downhill when he fired head coach Jim Caldwell after back-to-back winning seasons.<\/p>\n

Things got worse for the Lions after Quinn replaced Caldwell with former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. After his stint in Detroit, he took a job in the Cleveland Browns<\/a> front office working with Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski from 2021-2025.<\/p>\n

Plus, the Falcons hired Robert Prince as wide receivers coach, and retained defensive line coach Nate Ollie, tight ends coach Kevin Koger and secondary coach Justin Hood. The team has yet to hire a new general manager but will introduce Stefanski on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
