{"id":708923,"date":"2026-01-27T12:52:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T12:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/708923\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T12:52:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T12:52:14","slug":"steelers-coaching-news-cowboys-interview-pit-olb-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/708923\/","title":{"rendered":"Steelers coaching news: Cowboys interview PIT OLB coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Over the weekend, the Steelers hired a former Cowboys coach in Mike McCarthy, and now Dallas could be hiring from Pittsburgh\u2019s ranks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Per a report from Bleacher Report\u2019s Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys have interviewed Steelers outside linebackers coach Denzel Martin for the same position in Dallas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It\u2019s unclear if Dallas intends to hire Martin, or if there\u2019s a chance he\u2019ll be retained on Mike McCarthy\u2019s new Steelers staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Martin started as a scouting assistant for the Steelers in 2016. From 2018-19, he was a coaching assistant, and from 2020-22 he was the assistant outside linebackers coach before switching to the lead role.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Over Martin\u2019s time with the team, the Steelers have seen continued success from its outside linebacker unit, from stars such as T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith to breakouts including Bud Dupree (11.5 sacks in 2019) and Nick Herbig (7.5 sacks in 2025).<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Steelers were Martin\u2019s first NFL job.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Pittsburgh finished sixth in the NFL with 48 team sacks in 2025.
