The shock of being denied a trip to the Super Bowl has not cleared, but the Los Angeles Rams personnel office is already getting to work on next year. The Rams announced Monday that they have signed 10 players to Reserve\/Futures contracts. All 10 signees were off the Rams practice squad.<\/p>\n
An NFL Reserve\/Future contract allows teams to lock up players not currently on an active roster and not have them count against their 53 until the first day of the new league year. It helps teams get a jump on the roster building process, securing players they have an interest in continuing with. It offers players the security of having a set job and place on 90-man OTA rosters. It is normally bottom half of the roster prospects, contracts are not guaranteed and are usually for the league minimum.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s re-introduce the signees.<\/p>\n
WR Tyler Scott – Originally a Chicago Bears Round 4 pick in 2023, Scott played in all 17 games and made four starts. In 2024, he backslid and was sparsely used. Last year, he did time with the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks, released by both, before the Rams signed him last October.<\/p>\n
In college at Cincinnati, he was named to the Feldman\u2019s Freaks list and ran a 4.39 forty at the NFL Combine. Good college player that hasn\u2019t been able to make his mark. Strangely, he hasn\u2019t been used as a return man in college or as a pro, but did play some special teams with the Bears, 9o reps over two seasons.<\/p>\n
WR Brennan Presley – College standout at Oklahoma State, had over 5000 all-purpose yards. Rams signed him as an undrafted free agent last spring and he produced good preseason stats, leading the NFL in explosive (16+Yards) pass receptions. He did not make the roster and spent the year on the practice squad. Although activated for one regular-season game, only saw four special team snaps.<\/p>\n
WR Tru Edwards – Another undrafted free agent signed by the Rams. Started on the PUP List and missed much of camp and the opening preseason game, but did enough for the Rams to keep him around on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
TE Mark Redman – Undrafted out of Louisville and signed by L.A. Redman also missed most of camp on the PUP List and was able to pass his physical and join the team right before the first preseason game. Spent all year on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
C Dylan McMahon – Inked by the Philadelphia Eagles as a Round 6 pick in 2024. Didn\u2019t make the roster and the Rams poached him after Week 1 of the regular season. By rule the Rams had to put him on the 53 and they kept him there all year. When L.A. rested their starters in Week 18, McMahon got the start vs. the Seattle Seahawks and logged 66 snaps. Last year, he was cut and spent the season on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
T AJ Arcuri – Been around since 2022, when the Rams drafted him in Round 7. A perennial practice squad player, he\u2019s played in 10 games with one start over his four years. 121 reps on offense and 41 on special teams.<\/p>\n
CB Cam Lampkin – 2024 UDFA signed by L.A. out of Washington State. Has seen action in four NFL games, all on special teams (31 snaps).<\/p>\n
S Tanner Ingle – Been with the Rams three years since signing as a UDFA in 2023. Most fans remember him for the \u201cOle\u201d move that allowed Carolina to block a punt in the Wildcard playoff game. Over his three years, Ingle has logged three defensive snaps and 43 on special teams.<\/p>\n
ILB Elias Neal – The Rams signed him in 2024 as a UDFA out of Marshall. He made the roster as a rookie and spent five games with the team before being cut. He\u2019s played in eight games for L.A. and has 100 reps on special teams.<\/p>\n
DT Bill Norton – The Rams biggest player at 6\u2019 5\u201d 335 lb. Rams signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2025. He had some good reps in preseason games and was a fan favorite, but was cut and spent the year on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
Will any of these players help the Rams?<\/p>\n
With Neal, Ingle. Lampkin, Arcuri and to lesser extent McMahon, there\u2019s a \u201cwhat you\u2019ve seen is what you get\u201d vibe. They\u2019ve all been around for a while without having made much progress getting on to the field. It\u2019s difficult to make a case for that changing. Hard to believe that Redman will jump the Rams four current tight ends.<\/p>\n
For the three wide receivers, Scott, Presley, and Edwards, it depends on what the Rams do in free agency and the draft. If the Rams sign a couple of veteran free agents and\/or dip into a deep receiver draft pool, they have an uphill climb. I would surmise that Presley would have the inside track. In theory, his background as both a punt and kickoff returner provides a roster edge. Scott is the interesting candidate. So far, a bit of an under-achiever, but if the Rams can cultivate his wicked speed and open-field running ability, it might unlock a weapon. Edwards would have to show out to jump both Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield.<\/p>\n
Norton could have the best chance, vying to earn a role as a rotational nose tackle after a year of seasoning in the Rams system. But now that the Rams defense is using less of the 3-4 that came in with McVay via Wade Phillips and more four-man fronts, the need for monolithic nose tackles has lessened.<\/p>\n
So, to sum it up. Likely not, but make it a maybe a couple of them.
