That\u2019s been a guiding philosophy for Joe Brady \u201913 as he climbed the ladder in the football coaching profession. An award-winning offensive strategist with a reputation for success, he was named head coach of the Buffalo Bills in January 2026, after serving for two seasons as the team\u2019s offensive coordinator. He follows in the footsteps of former Buffalo Bills head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wm.edu\/peopleofwm\/cultural-icons\/mcdermott-s\/index.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sean McDermott \u201998<\/a> and former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wm.edu\/peopleofwm\/cultural-icons\/tomlin-m\/index.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Tomlin \u201995,\u00a0L.H.D. \u201908<\/a>. Through it all, he has learned to be rooted in the present.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you focus so much about where you want to be, you&#8217;re not going to do as great at the job that you&#8217;re at,\u201d Joe says.<\/p>\n<p>He rose to stardom as one of the architects of LSU\u2019s record-breaking offense in 2019, winning the Broyles Award as college football\u2019s top assistant coach before making the leap to the NFL as the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator. Joe joined the Bills as a quarterbacks coach in 2022 and was promoted to interim offensive coordinator near the end of the 2023 season. In the role full-time in 2024, he helped lead the offense as the team claimed its fifth straight AFC East Division title. He credits his time at William &amp; Mary with preparing him for the challenges of coaching professional football.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a lot of time in the business school or in Swem Library getting ready for a paper or a final.
