The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>‘ ongoing search for a new offensive coordinator just added a new wrinkle, and here’s the kicker. They didn’t even have to make a move. 1,727 miles from the City of Brotherly Love rests the Mile High City, and the hometown Denver Broncos<\/a> just tossed a rock in the NFL’s coaching pool, sending ripple effects through a changing landscape.<\/p>\n Per the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero<\/a>, Denver will part ways with its offensive coordinator, Joe Lombardi, which means a potential candidate for Philadelphia’s vacancy may be off the table before they even speak with him. As we’ve been keeping up with the Eagles<\/a>‘ search, we previously mentioned Davis Webb<\/a> and stated the following as some of our reasoning for doing so.<\/p>\n “Another former NFL quarterback-turned-coach, Webb was ironically coached by Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech before spending several years in the NFL as a backup and practice squad player. Webb turned to coaching in 2023 as the quarterbacks coach on Sean Payton’s staff in Denver. Webb became Denver’s offensive passing game coordinator and QBs coach. His work with Bo Nix has made him a name to watch during the hiring cycle. Webb has already interviewed for the Ravens’ head coaching job, but could fast-track his 2027 potential by getting the Eagles over the hump offensively.”<\/p>\n Any idea that ends with Webb joining the Eagles might not gain any traction now.<\/p>\n Webb, at the time of this story’s release, is the Broncos<\/a>‘ quarterbacks coach and offensive pass game coordinator. He has served in the former role since 2023 and added the latter title this past season. It seems feasible to believe he’d be the most logical replacement for Lombardi, taking his name off Philadelphia’s list before they can give him a serious look, that is, if they had plans to do so in the first place. \u00a0<\/p>\n
