The Eagles requested to interview Broncos QBs coach and pass game coordinator Davis Webb for their offensive coordinator opening, ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter reported.<\/p>\n
And the Eagles were not alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Giants and Ravens have also reportedly requested to interview Webb, who this week already interviewed for the head coaching jobs in Buffalo and Las Vegas. The Bills have since promoted Joe Brady to head coach, while the Raiders job is still vacant.<\/p>\n
All of those OC requests might not matter, though.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Broncos on Tuesday fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and many think head coach Sean Payton\u2019s plan is to promote Webb to replace Lombardi so they don\u2019t lose the talented young coach. So there\u2019s a good chance Webb never interviews for any of those OC jobs.<\/p>\n
While many are assuming \u2014 and for good reason \u2014 that Webb ends up getting promoted, the Broncos still have to meet the Rooney Rule requirements in their search for a new offensive coordinator. So Webb\u2019s promotion can\u2019t happen overnight.<\/p>\n
Webb, 31, became the Broncos\u2019 quarterbacks coach in 2023 and held that role for two seasons before getting promoted with the added title of pass game coordinator this past season.<\/p>\n
Before getting into coaching, Webb had a career as an NFL quarterback. He was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Cal (he played at Texas Tech too) by the Giants. He bounced around from the Giants, Jets, Bills and Giants. His longest stint with one team came with the Bills from 2019-2021, when he was Josh Allen\u2019s backup. Webb played in just two career games but jumped right into coaching and is seen as a fast-riser.<\/p>\n
Over the last two years, Webb has worked with Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, who was drafted 12th overall in 2024. Nix has been a full-time starter, has as 24-10 record and got the Broncos into this year\u2019s AFC Conference Championship Game but was unable to play after breaking his ankle.
