Two failed New York head coaches are hoping they can find success together in Nashville.<\/p>\n

Brian Daboll, fired as the Giants\u2019 head coach in November, has agreed to become new Titans head coach and ex-Jets boss Robert Saleh\u2019s offensive coordinator<\/a>, the team announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Daboll, who interviewed twice for the Raiders\u2019 head coaching job, lands in Tennessee instead.<\/p>\n

The Jets gave Saleh his first head coaching gig in 2021, but he was fired five games into his fourth season after accruing a 20-36 record.<\/p>\n

He returned to his previous post as 49ers defensive coordinator this season before getting the Titans gig.<\/p>\n

Daboll, 50, was hired by the Giants one year after Saleh came to town and quickly got Big Blue back to the playoffs and winning a wild-card game.<\/p>\n

But the Giants then went backwards, going 6-11 in 2023 and 3-14 in 2024 before Daboll got the pink slip at 2-8 this season<\/a>, finishing with a 20-40-1 record.<\/p>\n

Daboll was a candidate for the Bills\u2019 head coaching job before Buffalo promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady<\/a> on Tuesday to replace the fired Sean McDermott. Daboll\u2019s stock rose when he was the Bills\u2019 offensive coordinator early in Josh Allen\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

The Titans took quarterback Cam Ward No. 1 overall in last year\u2019s NFL draft after the Giants expressed interest in the Miami product and tried to trade up from No. 3<\/a>, where they took pass rusher Abdul Carter.<\/p>\n

The Giants traded back into the first round to take quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 25 overall. While Dart will now try to turn into a franchise quarterback under new coach John Harbaugh, Daboll will try to do the same with Ward.<\/p>\n

Ward struggled as a rookie while the Titans went 3-14, completing 59.8 percent of his passes while throwing for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions.<\/p>\n

Tennessee averaged 259.6 yards during the 2025 season, the second-fewest in the NFL, and its 16.7 points per game were the third-fewest in the league.<\/p>\n

The Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan after they fell to 1-5 in what was Callahan\u2019s second season at the helm.<\/p>\n

Saleh began his Jets stint with Mike LaFleur, the brother of Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, as his offensive coordinator. LaFleur left the Jets for the Rams after two seasons.<\/p>\n

The Jets then hired Nathaniel Hackett, a trusted coach then-QB Aaron Rodgers worked with in Green Bay, as their offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n

Hackett was ultimately stripped of play-calling duties after Saleh\u2019s firing in 2024.<\/p>\n

Ex-Giants QB Davis Webb, who is the Broncos\u2019 quarterbacks coach, and Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, are among the other candidates for the Raiders job. Las Vegas has also interviewed Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who is preparing for the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two failed New York head coaches are hoping they can find success together in Nashville.
