Ashton Jeanty was one of the most coveted running back prospects in recent years. The Kansas City Chiefs were never in the sweepstakes, but he unfortunately fell to the rival Las Vegas Raiders in the top 10 of the draft last month.<\/p>\n
The Chiefs have proven the class of the AFC West for the better part of the last decade, having won the division the last nine seasons. But their competitors are making up ground.<\/p>\n

Las Vegas has the most work to do among the three in pursuit and have made some significant changes to blaze a new trail forward. They have brought in Pete Carroll as the next head coach who helped appoint Chip Kelly to offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
Kelly’s star shines bright again after his contributions to Ohio State’s national championship run. Carroll and the Raiders hope to replicate that same dynamic attack at the next level with Jeanty being a focal point of this change.<\/p>\n
Already, Kelly has installed some tweaks to the rookie’s game, focusing specifically on his stance. Jeanty was known for his unique posture in the backfield during his time at Boise State, but Kelly wants him taking a more fundamental approach.<\/p>\n

“Chip Kelly comes to me first day of rookie minicamp, and he\u2019s like \u2018You ever play basketball… OK, show me how you would guard me,\u2019 and he\u2019s acting like he\u2019s holding the ball. And then he\u2019s like, \u2018That\u2019s exactly why you have to be down in your running back stance.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe won for now,\u201d Jeanty said. \u201cI\u2019m going to try to persuade him one day. I have to earn my stripes and make some plays first, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be the end [of the stance].\u201d<\/p>\n
Jeanty understands his place as a rookie coming in, absorbing knowledge from a veteran offensive mind like Kelly. Could this change potentially inhibit his progress?<\/p>\n

Drilling that stance will be something Jeanty must get used to. However, he will have time to get comfortable now with OTAs underway and a whole summer on the horizon before training camp and the preseason.<\/p>\n
Chiefs fans would certainly hope there is a major learning curve for the rookie running back as he may be their problem through the foreseeable years for the Raiders.<\/p>\n
