On Tuesday, Omar Khan and fellow Pittsburgh Steelers brass presented Mike McCarthy as the club\u2019s successor to Mike Tomlin via a press conference.<\/p>\n
During the 65-year-old\u2019s introduction, the black and gold\u2019s newest bench boss addressed questions regarding his plans for the offense, the whirlwind of the past few days, and how his past will influence the future. With a plethora of NFL experience, including 12 postseason appearances and a Super Bowl ring, Khan and the rest of Pittsburgh\u2019s staff are elated for McCarthy to begin.<\/p>\n
More specifically, the Steelers\u2019 general manager is a firm believer in not only McCarthy\u2019s ability to call an offense, but his ability to develop a star quarterback as well.<\/p>\n
Steelers potentially turning to next chapter at QB<\/p>\n
While the Steelers await a decision from Aaron Rodgers and his future, many fans are beginning to chat about the club\u2019s 2025 draft pick, Will Howard. With an offensive-minded head coach now in charge, Khan too feels the excitement around the 24-year-old quarterback\u2019s potential.<\/p>\n
\u201cOmar Khan says in talking to all the coaches in the process, developing and finding the next franchise QB is a big part of it,\u201d Nick Farabaugh reports. \u201cAdds they are excited to work with Will Howard again. McCarthy adds the QB position has evolved with the rules, the QB run game, and much more.\u2019<\/p>\n
There is no question that Pittsburgh\u2019s new bench boss knows a thing or two about the evolution of the quarterback. From working with legends like Joe Montana and Aaron Rodgers to a more modern gunslinger like Dak Prescott, McCarthy has seen it all. Now, he will get the chance to take the 6-foot-four Howard under his wing and develop him into the elite versatile QB many believe he can be.<\/p>\n
Once again, Rodgers\u2019 decision regarding his status for next season has yet to be announced. However, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the Steelers see Howard as the eventual quarterback of the future in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
