When it comes to the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/jacksonville-jaguars\/365\" data-autotag=\"0e187629-debe-49e8-9e02-83bd36ad3fcc\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Jaguars<\/a>, Locker believes that GM James Gladstone should pursue safety Jalen Thompson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;He brings positional versatility by logging 1,160 or more snaps at free safety, in the box or in the slot,&#8221; Locker wrote. &#8220;Further, Thompson would also fit defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile\u2019s zone-oriented scheme well, as his 73.5 PFF coverage grade on Cover 3, Quarters or Cover 6 is the ninth-best among qualified safeties since 2024.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Thompson has been in the NFL since 2019. As Locker mentions, Thompson has bounced around the Arizona secondary throughout his career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">While his zone coverage abilities align well with Campanile&#8217;s scheme, so does his versatility in a Jaguars&#8217; defense that is very good at throwing a variety of looks at opponents.<\/p>\n<p>Expert NFL picks: <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":body nav (nfl)|e|auto spike click:5|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_sp_a\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/picks\">Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nfl\/player\/market-value\/_\/id\/32283\/jalen-thompson\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spotrac is projecting<\/a> that Thompson signs a two-year deal in free agency worth $18.95 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Certainly, there are a lot of reasons why this addition would make sense for the Jaguars. But if you ask me, the Jaguars should prioritize adding to the defensive front over safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Although Andrew Wingard is going to be a free agent, still under contract are Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransaw, and Rayuan Lane, among others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The defensive line, meanwhile, needs more depth at both tackle and end, along with more pass rush juice, specifically at defensive tackle.
