The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> are taking a close look at one of the Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> coordinators.<\/p>\n

The Eagles currently have an opening at offensive coordinator, and according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler<\/a>, Colts<\/a>‘ offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter interviewed in person with Philadelphia on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Cooter is “in the mix” for this job, as Fowler put it.<\/p>\n

In title, Cooter’s current role and the Eagles’ opening are the same. However, Cooter does not call the plays for the\u00a0Colts<\/a>\u00a0— Shane Steichen does — and the Eagles’ opening is likely a play-calling role, so this job would be a step up for him in that regard.<\/p>\n

With that said, the NFL views this as a lateral move if it were to happen, so Steichen had to give Cooter the go-ahead to pursue this opportunity, according to SI’s Albert Breer.<\/a><\/p>\n

Cooter was on the Eagles’ staff in 2021 under current head coach Nick Sirianni.<\/p>\n

In addition to that, before Steichen took over as the Colts’ head coach, he was the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. So there is a connection between the current offense that Cooter operates in and what the Eagles have done previously under Sirianni and Jalen Hurts.<\/p>\n

This season, the Colts’ offense finished eighth in\u00a0points per game<\/a>\u00a0scored and eighth in yards per play.<\/p>\n
