{"id":713365,"date":"2026-01-29T06:37:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T06:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/713365\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T06:37:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T06:37:22","slug":"stevie-johnson-gives-his-take-on-bills-new-head-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/713365\/","title":{"rendered":"Stevie Johnson gives his take on Bills new head coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: The Buffalo Bills on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/buffalo\/news\/2026\/01\/27\/sources--buffalo-bills-hire-joe-brady-as-next-head-coach\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady<\/a> to head coach.<\/p>\n<p>The team will formally introduce Brady at 12 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Former Bills wide receiver and Buffalo End Zone football analyst Stevie Johnson joined Andy Young to give his take on the hiring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy personal feeling, I was leaning more towards a defensive-minded coach to lead the Buffalo Bills this upcoming season, but that was me personally,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWhat I feel about it overall, [I think] it\u2019s a great fit, to be honest. It\u2019s a great fit for Josh Allen, most importantly. He\u2019s been sitting in the meetings. He\u2019s been hearing all the other guys coming in to talk and, ultimately, he felt he\u2019s comfortable with Joe still being around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brady replaces Sean McDermott, who was recently <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/buffalo\/bills\/2026\/01\/19\/buffalo-bills-fire-head-coach-sean-mcdermott-after-playoff-loss-to-broncos\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fired<\/a> after nine years on the sideline.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At this point, they&#8217;ve bought themselves six to nine more months to show that it was actually McDermott who was holding us back,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;Or [to show that] having Brady be in this position is better for the overall team.
