In addition to defensive backs coach Ryan Downard and linebackers coach Sean Duggan, defensive quality control assistant Wendel Davis is also headed to Miami to join Hafley&#8217;s Dolphins, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AaronWilson_NFL\/status\/2016678069302444126\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" rel=\"nofollow\">per NFL insider Aaron Wilson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Davis, 37, has been on Matt LaFleur&#8217;s staff since 2019. He spent all seven seasons as a quality control coach on the defensive side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">LaFleur has now lost three assistant coaches to Hafley, who was hired to be the Dolphins head coach earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Hafley declared Davis the defense&#8217;s &#8220;Ball King&#8221; this summer, and it was Davis&#8217; job to chart plays in practice and highlight missed opportunities to punch at the ball and create fumbles. The offseason emphasis didn&#8217;t pay off, however, and the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/green-bay-packers\/335\" data-autotag=\"2b76aec5-0d77-4545-9a2a-f864de5488eb\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Packers<\/a> backtracked in both takeaways and forced fumbles in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Before joining the Packers, Davis spent two years as a linebackers coach at Texas A&amp;M University- Commerce (2013-14), one season as a football analyst at Texas (2015) and three seasons as a graduate assistant at Georgia (2016-18).<\/p>\n<p>Expert NFL picks: <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":body nav (nfl)|e|auto spike click:5|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_sp_a\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/picks\">Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Davis, a Texas native, played four seasons (2006-09) as a linebacker at Arkansas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Wilson also confirmed that Derrick Ansley will not return to the Packers coaching staff.
