There was no denying the Eagles run game struggled in 2025, and a new report by Jeff McLane suggests <\/a>that Jeff Stoutland was stripped of his run-game coordinator role at some point in the season.<\/p>\n

McLane said that the expectation is that Stoutland comes back to Philadelphia as their offensive line coach, but no other role in 2026 \u2014 he also noted that most of the offensive assistants aren\u2019t entirely sure they\u2019ll return next season as they wait to see who the team hires as offensive coordinator and how many staff changes the new OC will make. Still, it\u2019s hard to imagine that whoever they bring in would be able to find or bring in a better and more respected offensive line coach than Jeff Stoutland.<\/p>\n

Despite the issues among the offensive line and in the run game, Stoutland has proven to be successful. He\u2019s been the run game coordinator since the 2018 season, a title he earned after the Super Bowl win. Since then, he\u2019s been widely praised as one of the best OL coaches in the league and he was a huge reason Saquon Barkley dominated in 2025.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s surprising that Stoutland would see a reduced role without his support. The offensive struggles last season were vast and he was dealing with a depleted group of lineman \u2014 Lane Johnson missed nearly half the season, and Landon\u2019s Dickerson and Cam Jurgens were pretty much playing through injuries all year.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are a better football team with Jeff Stoutland in the building, so if he\u2019s okay stepping back and focusing on the guys upfront, that\u2019s better than him not around at all.
