Additionally, McCarthy is retaining Tom Arth as quarterbacks coach, Gerald Alexander as the secondary coach, Scott McCurley as linebackers coach. Now, McCarthy is adding another name to his defensive staff<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Washington Commanders defensive pass game coordinator is joining the Steelers\u2019 staff in a \u201cprominent defensive role,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JFowlerESPN\/status\/2016914382215581731?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">ESPN\u2019s Jeremy Fowler reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cWashington assistant Jason Simmons, who interviewed for the Steelers DC job, is expected to join the staff in a prominent defensive role, per sources. \u201dThis would be a reunion for Simmons, Patrick Graham and Mike McCarthy from Green Bay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Simmons was on the Packers staff from 2011-19. He was then the defensive pass game coordinator and secondary coach for the Carolina Panthers from 2020-21.
