Then Gibson only played five games this season due to a knee injury,\u201d Ballentine wrote on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is that Gibson is getting paid too much to be a clear No. 3 back behind Henderson and Stevenson. The Pats can find a third back and return man for much cheaper through the draft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New England signed Gibson to a three-year, $11.25 million contract in March of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Gibson suffered a season-ending torn ACL against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. Since he was unable to play for most of the season, Henderson stepped up and gained valuable experience.
