According to NFL Network\u2019s league insider Ian Rapoport, the Buffalo Bills are hiring Denver Broncos offensive assistant Pete Carmichael Jr. to be Joe Brady\u2019s offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
Carmichael Jr. has been with Sean Payton in various roles from 2006 to the time Payton left New Orleans, and then reunited with him in Denver in 2024 as a senior offensive assistant. As Rapoport stated, he is one of Payton\u2019s longtime and most trusted lieutenants, and the Broncos staff is losing an experienced offensive coach.<\/p>\n
The Denver Broncos\u2019 offensive coaching staff could look a bit different this coming season. The team fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and wide receivers coach Keary Colbert earlier this week, and pass game coordinator\/QB coach Davis Webb has several teams (including the Broncos) interested in him as an offensive coordinator. So, the Broncos\u2019 offensive staff will look a bit different, even if Davis Webb returns to the team as an offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
Hell, Payton losing both Lombardi and Carmichael Jr. is significant because this will be the first time since 2008 where somebody other than one of those two coaches will be Sean Payton\u2019s offensive coordinator. It is time for a new voice and some new ideas.<\/p>\n
As for Carmichael Jr., he was Sean Payton\u2019s longtime offensive coordinator with the Saints and coached on the same staff as Joe Brady in New Orleans.
