The Ohio State University Department of Athletics posted record revenue of $336,077,887 for the 2025 fiscal year \u2013 eclipsing the previous record of $279,549,337 in revenue set in FY 2023.<\/p>\n
The revenue is part of a new report filed with the NCAA and places the Buckeyes among the most successful and financially sound athletic departments in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the collegiate athletics model continues to evolve, successfully navigating the financial landscape is a must and I am proud of everyone within our program who made last year a success,\u201d Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation-Eugene Smith Endowed Athletics Director Ross\u00a0Bjork\u00a0said. \u201cWhile there will be continued challenges to our economic model, we will strive to be best in class by continuing to innovate and stay aggressive in generating new revenue streams while also managing our expenses as soundly as possible. We are grateful for every Buckeye fan, donor, season ticket holder, and all students who support our program in numerous ways.\u201d<\/p>\n
Success on the field contributed to strong box-office attendance. Ticket sales, the largest single source of athletics revenue, totaled $81,650,892, an improvement over $58,788,651 in FY 2024, when there were only six home football games.<\/p>\n
The Buckeyes played eight home games in FY 2025 and hosted a College Football Playoff game against Tennessee in the new playoff format, along with playing in CFP bowl games against Oregon, Texas and the national championship final. Ohio State defeated Notre Dame to win its 9th national title.<\/p>\n
Ohio State athletics also received a record $68,284,273 in donor-funded contributions. The fundraising total from individuals, foundations and other supporters shows the depth and breadth of support for the Buckeyes and eclipsed the $52,525,557 raised the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n
Media rights fees, including television and radio, grew to $64,917,009, up from $52,794,280 in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
Department expenses totaled $320,394,965 for the fiscal year.\u00a0 The department distributed more than $24.9 million in athletic student aid. That includes tuition, aid for student-athletes who are medically inactive, and other attendance-related expenses. The support is one part of the university\u2019s holistic \u201cCircle of Care\u201d approach to student-athlete well-being.<\/p>\n
Ohio State supports 16 men\u2019s teams, 17 women\u2019s teams, three mixed teams and approximately 1,000 student-athletes.\u00a0The department is self-funded and receives no tuition or tax dollars.<\/p>\n
