New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien is interviewing for the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator job, per Jeremy Fowler.<\/p>\n
Tolzien joined the Saints coaching staff in 2025 as part of Kellen Moore\u2019s team. The former NFL quarterback was a player for the Steelers\u2019 new head coach, Mike McCarthy, during his time with the Green Bay Packers, and coached under McCarthy with the Dallas Cowboys as quarterbacks coach before joining Kellen Moore in New Orleans under the same position after McCarthy was fired in 2024.<\/p>\n
Tolzien has been a vital part of the development of starting quarterback Tyler Shough, who showed tremendous development after earning the starting job halfway through the season. Part of the Saints\u2019 feeling comfortable without a veteran quarterback on the roster was their experience on the coaching staff, with Tolzien, Moore, and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier all being former passers in the NFL. While Nussmeier and Moore will obviously both remain on the roster, the potential loss of Tolzien could be significant.<\/p>\n
Tolzien is only 38 years old and has been coaching since 2019, when he joined the Wisconsin Badgers as an analyst.
