Michigan State’s Alante Brown has been granted a seventh year of college football eligibility by the NCAA.Brown, a wide receiver and kick returner, previously played for Nebraska before transferring to Michigan State.Despite entering the transfer portal, Brown is currently listed on the Spartans’ spring roster.His potential return could provide a significant boost to Michigan State’s special teams and wide receiver depth.<\/p>\n
Michigan State could be officially returning an electric kick returner for one final season of college football.<\/p>\n
It was reported<\/a> on Friday that Spartans<\/a> wide receiver and kick return specialist Alante Brown has been granted another year of eligibility with his waiver for an extra season approved by the NCAA. Chris Hummer of 247Sports reported the notable news on Brown — who will now have a seventh season of college football.<\/p>\n Brown started his career at Nebraska, playing three seasons for the\u00a0Cornhuskers<\/a>\u00a0from 2020 to 2022. He transferred to Michigan State where he played the last three seasons (2023 to 2025) for the Spartans. During his career, he has appeared in 48 games with 27 receptions for 309 yards. He has had more of an impact, though, on special teams as a return man. This past season he recorded a touchdown in the season finale against Maryland on a kick return.<\/p>\n What’s interesting about Brown’s situation is that he entered the transfer portal<\/a> a few weeks ago but recently it was reported that he’s also appearing on the Spartans’ 2026 spring roster<\/a>. So it’s unclear at this time if he’ll be returning now for another season at Michigan State or still plans to leave for another school.<\/p>\n We will have to continue to monitor this situation with Brown, but it’s nice to see he’ll get another crack at playing college football after battling injuries throughout his career. And if he returns to Michigan State, this certainly could help boost their roster at wide receiver and in special teams.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
