The Vikings<\/a> shocked the NFL world on Friday when they announced they were firing general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. The team had long been rumored to be on rocky waters with their front office leader for a variety of reasons. Following the firing, the Wilf family spoke to the media and discussed some of the thought process behind the move they made.<\/p>\n

Wilf explained<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s not necessarily a fair thing to talk about any one decision and that\u2019s the way we approach it. It\u2019s a body of work. It\u2019s a cumulative set of decisions. It\u2019s four years of where we\u2019ve been and we as ownership \u2014 and I know our fans feel it and our entire organization \u2014 feels we need to get to a better place.\u201d<\/p>\n

It seems that they confirmed the prior reporting by The Athletic’s Diana Russini<\/a>, which shared key points about what may have burned the bridge with the Vikings and their now-former general manager. She shared that misses in the draft played a large role in firing Adofo-Mensah, as well as the team’s failure to secure quarterback Daniel Jones this past offseason.<\/p>\n

And on the topic of quarterback news, his opting away from signing Aaron Rodgers, who showed interest in playing on a “below-market” deal. Not the best of times for the Vikings but it seems they made this move with the idea they can turn the page and start fresh before a pivotal season gets underway with a roster close to being in contention for a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n
