\u201cThere\u2019s just some more, he calls it \u2018keepers, boots,\u2019 whatever you want to call it,\u201d Mayfield said, referring to Robinson. \u201cSome of that stuff, and just the under-center play-action. And obviously, it was hard last year without our starting five [offensive] linemen all playing at once.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to settle the marriage of the run and pass, but this is something that I know Zac is going to live and die by the sword. So just being able to run some of the play-action stuff and attack team downhill with the run game on top of that. We need to be more aggressive and Zac hit on that; we\u2019re always going to play aggressive, be the attacker. And that\u2019s the mindset with [Robinson, Sean McVay and Liam Coen]; they\u2019re trying to guy you anytime they step on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mayfield noted how he and Robinson have stayed in touch for years and he loves everything that the McVay tree and coaches represent after spending one-third of a season there in 2022 with Robinson as his QB coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that\u2019s what I realized when I got to L.A. This is the kind of system, these are the kinds of coaches I want to be around \u2014 that are truly going to adapt to the personnel, to what the guys\u2019 strengths are and go from there,\u201d Mayfield said.<\/p>\n
If Mayfield is happy, then Joe is happy.
