The Bills have hired Pete Carmichael to be Buffalo’s next offensive coordinator, marking the first official hire of Joe Brady’s head coach tenure with the Bills. Brady and Carmichael overlapped on the offensive coaching staff for two seasons in New Orleans (2017-18).<\/p>\n
Carmichael comes to the Bills with an extensive amount of NFL coaching experience. Buffalo’s new OC started coaching in the NFL in 2000 and worked for five different teams over the last 25 years.<\/p>\n
His last stop was with the Denver Broncos where he served as the senior offensive assistant from 2024-25. Carmichael had a big hand in the early development of quarterback Bo Nix, who was drafted in 2024. The Broncos posted a 10-7 season in 2024 and 14-3 record in 2025, making playoff appearances both years.<\/p>\n
Before that, Carmichael had a long 17-year stint (2006-23) with the New Orleans Saints as part of Sean Payton’s coaching staff. Carmichael started as the Saints’ quarterbacks coach, then added passing game coordinator to his title and elevated to offensive coordinator in 2009.<\/p>\n
He oversaw an offense that had a ton of success in New Orleans, including a Super Bowl from the 2009 season.
