The Pittsburgh Steelers are in desperate need of bolstering their wide receiver corps this offseason. It\u2019s been a glaring issue the last two seasons. <\/p>\n

Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus<\/a> thinks Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs would be an ideal fit for the Steelers in free agency, especially due to his connection with Aaron Rodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the Steelers hiring Mike McCarthy, the team will likely invest more in its offense as it attempts to better a unit that placed 20th in EPA per play. Finding a running mate for D.K. Metcalf would go a long way in doing so,\u201d Locker wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cDoubs has been a solid option over the last three seasons with a 78.6 PFF receiving grade. Since 2024, he also sits in the 75th percentile in receiving grade vs. single coverage. The 25-year-old former Packer could reunite with Aaron Rodgers (if he returns) and should have little trouble learning McCarthy\u2019s terminology.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Steelers are currently projected to have $45,604,170 in cap space this offseason, which is the eighth-most in the NFL, according to Over The Cap<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Doubs was teammates with Rodgers for one season in Green Bay in 2022. Doubs recorded 42 receptions for 425 yards (10.1 average) and three touchdowns in 13 games in his rookie campaign with Rodgers as his quarterback. <\/p>\n

In 2025, Doubs recorded 55 receptions for 724 yards (13.2 average) and six touchdowns. He caught three passes for 44 yards in the Packers\u2019 Week 8 win over the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium. <\/p>\n

Mike McCarthy<\/a> said Tuesday during his introductory press conference as Steelers head coach that he \u201cdefinitely\u201d wants Rodgers<\/a> back next season. The two have been in touch since the former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys leader took over in his hometown.<\/p>\n

During a Friday appearance on \u201cThe Pat McAfee Show,\u201d McCarthy said that he\u2019s spoken to Rodgers a \u201cnumber of times\u201d in the past week. There isn\u2019t any indication as to whether the future Pro Football Hall of Fame signal-caller will return to the Steel City for a second season and play for McCarthy again, though.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike anybody that\u2019s played the game a long time, particularly at this point of their career, it\u2019s important to get away,\u201d McCarthy said<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s really the mindset that he\u2019s in, and that\u2019s really about as far as our conversations have gone as far is if he\u2019s coming back or not coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n
