The Eagles could lose defensive line coach and senior defensive assistant Clint Hurtt to the Dolphins<\/p>\n
After failing to meet expectations in 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> are going to be making some changes this offseason. Some of those changes, such as the team\u2019s decision to move on from offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo<\/a>, were made by the team itself. Losing a guy like defensive backs coach Christian Parker<\/a>, though, is an example of the sort of change the team was hoping to avoid being subjected to.<\/p>\n Parker was hired to be the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>\u2018 new defensive coordinator, and it sounds like another member of Philadelphia\u2019s coaching staff could be eyeing a defensive coordinator opening. That would be defensive line coach and senior defensive assistant Clint Hurtt<\/a>, who recently opened up on his interview with the Miami Dolphins<\/a> for their defensive coordinator vacancy.<\/p>\n Clint Hurtt Hoping to Land Dolphins\u2019 Defensive Coordinator Gig<\/p>\n The Dolphins have been busy making changes to their coaching staff this offseason, as they hired former Green Bay Packers<\/a>\u2018 defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to be their new head coach. As Hafley takes over, he\u2019s begun bringing his own guys to town, and initially, reports indicated that Sean Duggan, who worked with Hafley in Green Bay as the team\u2019s linebackers coach, was in line to be his new defensive coordinator in Miami.<\/p>\n The door has been left open for Hurtt to win the job, though, as he interviewed for the defensive coordinator opening last week. Prior to working on Nick Sirianni\u2019s staff in Philly, Hurtt previously served as the Seattle Seahawks<\/a> defensive coordinator for two seasons in 2022 and 2023, so he certainly has experience working in the role, which could be valuable for Hafley.<\/p>\n The Dolphins\u2019 pursuit of Hurtt is a bit surprising, as he and Hafley have yet to cross paths as coaches. However, it\u2019s clear that Hurtt is an experienced defensive coach who could help Hafley as he transitions into his first head coaching gig. When asked about his interview with the Dolphins, Hurtt sounded optimistic<\/a>, although he admitted he doesn\u2019t know which way the team is leaning currently.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt like it went well,\u201d Hurtt said, via Johnny McGonigal of PennLive. \u201cThe feedback I got was that it went really well. But nothing to really talk about right now at this point in time. In a perfect world, though, the team wouldn\u2019t have to worry about Hurtt potentially heading for the exit door, as that would mean that Sirianni is going to have to find someone to come in and replace him.<\/p>\n There are a lot of factors that play into the status of the Dolphins\u2019 defensive coordinator role right now, as the team has to first figure out what\u2019s going on with Anthony Weaver, who currently holds the position, before making its move.
