{"id":720955,"date":"2026-02-01T07:32:29","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T07:32:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/720955\/"},"modified":"2026-02-01T07:32:29","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T07:32:29","slug":"bill-belichicks-fingerprints-all-over-this-patriots-super-bowl-2026-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/720955\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill Belichick&#8217;s fingerprints all over this Patriots Super Bowl 2026 run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bill Belichick\u2019s bust <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/27\/sports\/bill-belichick-falls-short-of-hall-of-fame-in-bewildering-first-ballot-vote\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">won\u2019t be added to the Hall of Fame<\/a> this year, but his fingerprints are all over Super Bowl 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the removal of several big-name Belichick additions over the course of this season \u2014 cutting Kendrick Bourne and Jabrill Peppers, and trading Kyle Dugger and Keion White \u2014 the former czar added 16 of the 53 players on the Patriots\u2019 Super Bowl 2026 roster during his reign as head coach and general manager (2000-23).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, Belichick\u2019s influence is seen in prot\u00e9g\u00e9 head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/29\/sports\/two-things-can-be-true-at-once-about-super-bowl-bound-patriots\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Vrabel\u2019s rules-mastery game management<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBill\u2019s roster building was questioned as people lined up to take shots at him,\u201d Ole Miss head coach of offense Joe Judge, a longtime Belichick assistant, told The Post, \u201cbut it\u2019s clear the mix of high-investment draft picks and free agents he acquired, along with the mid- and late-round picks now truly build the depth of the roster. You can still see the vision he had in this year\u2019s Super Bowl, and Vrabel has done a phenomenal job \u2014 to say the least.
