Pittsburgh is still without an offensive coordinator and a special teams coach. While it was largely expected they would be replaced anyway, Arthur Smith took the offensive coordinator job at Ohio State, and Danny Smith left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to fill their special teams coordinator vacancy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">As they continue to build their staff and fill those openings, the Steelers are interviewing former Buffalo Bills special teams coordinator Matthew Smiley, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JFowlerESPN\/status\/2018036814011924756?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">per Jeremy Fowler<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThe Steelers interviewed former Bills special teams coordinator Matthew Smiley for their STC opening, per source,\u201d Fowler reports. \u201cSmiley has coached NFL special teams since 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Smiley\u2019s units with the Bills struggled. In 2024, his last year with the Bills, Buffalo allowed the fifth-most yards per kickoff return and a kickoff return touchdown.
