An already-dramatic Eagles offseason<\/a> could see more upheaval.<\/p>\n

While defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had been mulling retirement toward the end of the Eagles season, which ended in a wild-card loss to the 49ers, the team still has yet to receive a final decision from Fangio, per The Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There was a wishy-washy commitment by Fangio for 2026 that came with the caveat that he could change his mind, according to the report.<\/p>\n

However, Fangio also brought up the topic last year as well, and ended up coming back.<\/p>\n

It all still seems to be up in the air, but the Eagles are starting to consider other options in the case Fangio does leave Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

The Eagles were interested in a Jonathan Gannon reunion before he took the Packers defensive coordinator job. Gannon was the Eagles\u2019 DC in 2021 and \u201922 before he became the Cardinals head coach; he was fired last month after three losing seasons and a 15-36 record.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia also reportedly planned to check in with Jim Schwartz, who was reportedly furious after being passed over for the Browns\u2019 head coaching gig and wants out; the Browns hired Todd Monken as their new head coach.<\/p>\n

Schwartz is under contract and the Browns are reportedly hoping he returns.<\/p>\n

After winning the Super Bowl last year, drama surrounded the Eagles all season as their offense struggled and wide receiver AJ Brown openly complained about his role. Philly went 11-6 and won the NFC East for the third time in four years but they lost at home to the 49ers in the wild-card round.<\/p>\n

Head coach Nick Sirianni stripped Kevin Patullo of his offensive coordinator duties<\/a>, though it was unclear if Patullo would remain on the staff in a different role. The team hired Sean Mannion as its new offensive coordinator<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Eagles lost passing game coordinator Christian Parker to the rival Cowboys<\/a>, who made him their new defensive coordinator, taking away a potential Fangio replacement option.<\/p>\n

NFL Network\u2019s Mike Garafolo previously reported on \u201cThe Anthony Gargano Show\u201d that Fangio was close to retiring following the Eagles\u2019 Super Bowl victory last year.<\/p>\n
