Newsome\u2019s playing career ended in 2016 when he suffered a dislocated right knee and assorted other injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Newsome began coaching in 2018 and was Michigan\u2019s tight ends coach under Jim Harbaugh in 2022 and 2023. He coached the team\u2019s offensive line in 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Newsome is just 28 years old. The Giants have not yet hired an offensive line coach, or an offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Offensive coordinator update<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Giants are continuing to search for an offensive coordinator, even as they continue to hire offensive position coaches who will work under that coordinator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Giants are expected to conduct in-person interviews for the coordinator role at some point this week, and then make a decision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Newsome, an offensive tackle, played and coached at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh.
