Wide receiver George Pickens<\/a> was spectacular in his debut campaign for the Dallas Cowboys. Pickens recorded 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns this past season.<\/p>\n

Pickens\u2019 1,429 receiving yards were the third-most in the NFL. Pickens was traded to the Cowboys last offseason after spending the first three seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n

The Steelers received a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange for Pickens. While the Cowboys were thrilled with Pickens\u2019 play this past season, his future with the organization is uncertain.<\/p>\n

Pickens will be a free agent this offseason unless the Cowboys sign him to a new contract. On Monday, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott<\/a> advocated for the team strike a deal with Pickens.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, whichever way that they got to do it, he\u2019s an important piece of this offense, an important piece of what we\u2019re trying to do. I\u2019ll leave it to those guys,\u201d Prescott said<\/a>, per The Athletic\u2018s Jon Machota. \u201cObviously if I need to get involved, I\u2019ve said it before, I will. But (I\u2019m) confident in (Cowboys owner Jerry Jones) and everybody who makes those decisions and how much he means to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prescott wasn\u2019t the only Cowboys player who called for Dallas to secure Pickens\u2019 future with the team. Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin<\/a> also said Pickens should return next season.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe needs to stay here. \u2026 I feel like he has no choice but to stay here,\u201d Turpin said<\/a>, per Dallas Morning News\u2018 Joseph Hoyt.<\/p>\n

Evidently, the Cowboys\u2019 front office is on the same page as its players. Last week, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones emphasized the team\u2019s desire to run it back with Pickens next season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe won\u2019t get into any details right now,\u201d Jones said,\u00a0via DallasCowboys.com\u2019s Tommy Yarrish<\/a>. \u201cCertainly, we want George to be back here in Dallas, and we\u2019ll certainly go from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his fantastic season, Pickens earned his first career All-Pro nod. The Cowboys posted a 7-9-1 record and narrowly missed out on a playoffs appearance.<\/p>\n

It was Brian Schottenheimer\u2018s first season as the Cowboys\u2019 head coach. Stephen Jones hopes to provide Schottenheimer with the necessary roster to take another step forward in his second campaign at the helm.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got work to do on the defensive side of the ball.
