Feb. 3 (UPI) — The New York Giants<\/a> plan to hire Matt Nagy<\/a> as their offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n

Sources told NFL.com<\/a>, ESPN<\/a> and The Athletic<\/a> about the expected hire Tuesday. Nagy spent the last three seasons in the same role for the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

His contract with the Chiefs expired last month. The Chiefs hired Eric Bieniemy last week to work as their new offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Chiefs ranked 20th in yards gained, with the No. 16 passing offense and No. 25 running game in the NFL. Those numbers were among the worst in the Andy Reid<\/a> era. The Chiefs’ offense, which ranked inside the Top 6 from 2017 to 2022, ranked No. 9 in 2023, Nagy’s first season. They ranked No. 16 in 2024.<\/p>\n

Bieniemy served as Chiefs offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2022. The Chiefs had the top offensive in three of his five seasons.<\/p>\n

Bieniemy was the Chiefs’ running back coach from 2013 through 2017.<\/p>\n

The Giants, who hired former Ravens coach John Harbaugh<\/a> as their new head coach last month, had the No. 13 offense in the NFL last season. They ranked among the worst four offenses in the league in four of their previous five seasons.\n<\/p>\n

Nagy previously interviewed for openings with the Arizona Cardinals<\/a>, Baltimore Ravens<\/a>, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans<\/a>.<\/p>\n
