Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets<\/a> recently exercised the fifth year option for their trio of 2022 first round picks: Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson and Jermaine Johnson. That keeps each of them under contract through the 2026 season. Now there\u2019s talk of a push to get some or all of them locked up in long term contracts before the 2025 season begins. Jermaine Johnson may be a bit problematic on that timeline, as the Jets have yet to see him in action after achilles surgery this past season. If I\u2019m the Jets I\u2019m holding off on a big extension for any player coming off achilles surgery until I see him on the field for a decent number of games.<\/p>\n

Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, on the other hand, are both healthy and established stars in the NFL. Of course, the devil is in the details, and outrageous demands by these players could torpedo negotiations, but assuming deals can be reached at appropriate compensation levels, these two should be under contract for the long term. It would be nice to get these deals done in the coming months and establish some cornerstones of the franchise moving forward.<\/p>\n
