The New England Patriots declined to activate Terrell Jennings to the 53-man roster before Wednesday\u2019s deadline, according to the NFL transaction wire, officially ending the running back\u2019s season.<\/p>\n
Jennings, 24, sustained a concussion against the New York Giants on Dec. 1 and was sent to injured reserve<\/a> following the Week 14 bye. He returned to practice<\/a> on Jan. 14, starting the 21-day clock, and later cleared the NFL\u2019s protocol.<\/p>\n But the light never turned green through playoff wins over the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos. And as the AFC champions set sights on the Seattle Seahawks, a hamstring injury saw Jennings go from a full participant to a non-participant. A questionable projection<\/a> followed on last Friday\u2019s injury report.<\/p>\n Heading to Foxborough as an undrafted tryout at rookie minicamp in 2024, Jennings stands 10 appearances into his NFL journey. The Florida A&M product climbed from the practice squad to the active roster over the course of his initial season. In 2025, he made the same climb<\/a> under head coach Mike Vrabel after reaching the league limit in standard elevations.<\/p>\n Jennings, who rushed for his first career touchdown in the fall, has totaled 115 scrimmage yards through 37 touches. The 6-foot, 217-pound running back has added three tackles on special teams while also returning a pair of kickoffs for 59 yards. His odometer includes 79 snaps on offense and 69 snaps in the kicking game.<\/p>\n The Patriots currently carry starter Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson on the 53-man roster. The third option<\/a> on the backfield depth chart has been vested veteran D\u2019Ernest Johnson, who cleared waivers and re-signed to the practice squad after the wild card versus the Los Angeles Chargers.<\/p>\n
