CLEVELAND, Ohio \u2014 On the eve of Myles Garrett likely winning his second NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award tonight, he gave Jimmy Fallon a sack tutorial on The Tonight Show, and revealed why he wasn\u2019t worried about the clock ticking down on his NFL sack record in the season finale against the Bengals.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you don\u2019t get a sack, you don\u2019t break the record,\u201d Fallon observed during their interview on the show <\/a>Wednesday night. <\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t break it this year,\u201d Garrett said to a chorus of cheers from the audience. \u201cWe were going to break it regardless.\u201d<\/p>\n Fallon countered that Garrett was being too positive.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m more of a realist,\u201d Fallon said. \u201cC\u2019mon. Wait, so if you don\u2019t do it, you\u2019re in second. You\u2019re on the list. but first is Michael Strahan \u2026 <\/p>\n \u201cAnd T.J. Watt,\u201d Garrett chimed in. <\/p>\n Finally, with 5:04 left in the game, Garrett used his elite get-off to chop and dip his way around Bengals tackle Orlando Brown and bring Joe Burrow down for his NFL record 23rd sack of the season. <\/p>\n \u201cBut there was never a thought that I wasn\u2019t going to get it,\u201d Garrett said. \u201cThere was never a \u2018couldn\u2019t.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Fallon couldn\u2019t fathom the ice in Garrett\u2019s veins as the clock ticked dangerously down in the fourth quarter. <\/p>\n \u201cDidn\u2019t you get nervous?\u201d he said. \u201cI would be crying. I\u2019d be like, \u2018c\u2019mon dudes, let me get one sack. What\u2019s going on here?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n Doubled-teamed with linemen and chipped all year with tight ends and backs, Garrett noted that \u201cthey haven\u2019t been letting me get any all year. So I had to go and take it.\u201d<\/p>\n He reiterated to Fallon that after he took Burrow down, he said, \u201cgood to see you, Joe.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou didn\u2019t say \u2018good to see you, Joe,\u201d an incredulous Fallon responded. <\/p>\n \u201cWe talk all the time after a sack,\u201d Garrett said. <\/p>\n \u201cWhat does that feel like?\u201d Fallon asked. <\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no better feeling in the world,\u201d Garrett said. \u201cOther than this. This has been great.\u201d<\/p>\n Fallon then produced a photo of Garrett\u2019s dad, Lawrence, sitting in the stands of that game with a camera lens the side of his head. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cYour dad brought a pretty big camera to the game,\u201d Fallon said. <\/p>\n \u201cIt might have been my lens,\u201d said Garrett, an amateur photographer. <\/p>\n \u201cDoes he work for Sports Illustrated or something?\u201d Fallon asked. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was trying out,\u201d Garrett said. <\/p>\n Unfortunately, he bombed the tryout, as Garrett revealed. <\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t really look for him during the game, but I did see the photo after the game and I\u2019m like \u2018there\u2019s no way he brought that big 600 MM lens \u2014 and didn\u2019t get the shot,\u2019\u201d Garrett said. <\/p>\n \u201cHe didn\u2019t get the shot?\u201d Fallon said. <\/p>\n \u201cHe didn\u2019t get the shot,\u201d Garrett confirmed.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is hilarious,\u201d Fallon said. <\/p>\n
