The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> made a splash during the 2025 NFL draft by selecting quarterback Jalen Milroe<\/a> in the third round at No. 92 overall. Milroe is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback who is largely considered a work-in-progress due to developmental passing skills.<\/p>\n

Milroe, the organization’s highest-drafted QB since 2012, won’t be asked to start away. That responsibility belongs to Sam Darnold<\/a>, who signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract in free agency. That actually represents the ideal scenario for Milroe, who threw for 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions at Alabama this past season.<\/p>\n

With Milroe slated to develop behind the scenes, Pro Football Focus recently labeled the former Crimson Tide standout as the “best player fit” among all QBs in the draft.<\/p>\n

“Milroe won’t start right away after the Seahawks handed Sam Darnold a hefty contract \u2014 and maybe not even for his first two years in the NFL,” Trevor Sikkema recently wrote<\/a>. “But the landing spot is great for that exact reason. Milroe might just be the most talented quarterback in this class, but he is not consistent enough in his current form to succeed in the NFL. His 74.7% adjusted completion percentage from 2024 isn\u2019t terrible, and his 2.5% turnover-worthy play percentage is fine, as well. But when he makes his mistakes, they often feel major. There is a starting NFL quarterback within Milroe, and Seattle\u2019s situation can pave the path to develop him into that.”<\/p>\n

The Seahawks hope Milroe will develop into a legitimate starting quarterback. They’re placing him in an ideal situation, with Darnold and even Drew Lock<\/a> ahead of him on the depth chart. Milroe is being afforded the resources and patience needed to become Seattle’s future franchise QB.<\/p>\n
