{"id":733074,"date":"2026-02-06T09:14:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T09:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/733074\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T09:14:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T09:14:13","slug":"nfl-world-reacts-to-ben-johnson-being-snubbed-for-coach-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/733074\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL world reacts to Ben Johnson being snubbed for Coach of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Feb. 5, 2026, 9:36 p.m. CT<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Ben Johnson made an incredible impact as his first year as <a href=\"\" data-t-l=\":b|z|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Chicago Bears<\/a> head coach, which earned him a nomination for AP Coach of the Year at the NFL Honors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/chicago-bears\/326\" data-autotag=\"69c69e75-f807-4542-90d2-619e6d4a23b1\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Bears<\/a> from worst to first, in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, going from 5-12 to 11-6 in Johnson&#8217;s first season. Chicago earned their first NFC North title since 2018 and ultimately their first postseason win in 15 years in what was a thrilling wild-card win over the rival <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/green-bay-packers\/335\" data-autotag=\"2b76aec5-0d77-4545-9a2a-f864de5488eb\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Green Bay Packers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Not only did Johnson not win &#8212; as New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel earned the honor &#8212; but he was disrespected in voting. Johnson finished fourth overall with 145 total votes, but he received just one first place vote, which was dead last among the contenders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Naturally, there was a strong reaction from Bears fans &#8212; and even non-Bears fans &#8212; to Johnson being disrespected in voting. Heck, you know it&#8217;s bad when even Packers fans think it&#8217;s absurd.
