Having drafted wide receiver, Matthew Golden<\/a> with the 23rd overall pick in last year\u2019s NFL draft, the Green Bay Packers<\/a> are hardly expected to aggressively pursue wide receivers this offseason. Particularly given the emergence of Christian Watson<\/a> as a player that is looking more and more like a bona fide #1 option.<\/p>\n Yet, as the Super Bowl and the offseason approaches, rumors have been going around concerning the possibility of All-Pro edge rusher, Micah Parsons<\/a>, trying to recruit<\/a> fellow All-Pro wideout, George Pickens<\/a> from his former team, the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>.<\/p>\n A move that did not sit well with Parsons\u2019 former teammate and five-time Pro Bowler, CeeDee Lamb<\/a>.<\/p>\n Yet the links between Pickens and Packers could potentially be moving more and more into place, however surprising that would look to an onlooker just a week or two ago.<\/p>\n Speaking on Up and Adams with NFL<\/a> Network alum, Kay Adams, Packers quarterback Jordan Love<\/a> revealed that not only do he and the former Pittsburgh Steeler<\/a> share an agent, but that they have a pre-existing relationship.<\/p>\n Jordan Love has a relationship with FREE AGENT George Pickens.<\/p>\n Same agent, they play hoops together.. IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN??!!!<\/p>\n @UpAndAdamsShow<\/a> <\/p>\n Jordan Love Already Knows George Pickens<\/p>\n \u201cIf you can bring in another player, George Pickens \u2013 he had a phenomenal year, he\u2019s a great player. I would love to have the most talented players on our team at all times, and we\u2019ll see.\u201d Love said<\/a> on the prospect of Pickens joining the ranks in Green Bay.<\/p>\n After Adams asked about what kind of route Love would most like to throw to the ex-Georgia product, the Packers QB responded with a go-route, revealing that he plays basketball with him and had seen him jump and make plays in the air live.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d throw him a go-ball and watch him go up and get it. I\u2019ve played basketball with him, I know what kind of bounce he\u2019s got.\u201d Love continued.<\/p>\n When pressed on where the two play basketball together, Love kept it coy, \u201cI\u2019m going to keep it a secret, we ain\u2019t gonna give [that] away those.\u201d<\/p>\n And when Adams noted that this connection was similar to how Parsons and Love had the same agent \u2013 David Mulugheta \u2013 Love replied, \u201cGeorge got the same agent as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Could Pickens Actually End Up On the Packers?<\/p>\n Never say never, and a this point it appears that if Pickens is to depart from Dallas, Green Bay feels like the most likely destination.<\/p>\n But at this point in time, it feels pretty reasonable to predict that Dallas will franchise tag Pickens if they cannot reach an extension. The franchise tag number in 2026 for wideouts is just over $28 million per year, per Spotrac<\/a>.<\/p>\n At that juncture, the Cowboys can either decide to trade him for picks \u2013 of which Green Bay are in about as poor a position as anyone in the league \u2013 or sign him to a long term deal.<\/p>\n There is a chance that Dallas opts to not tag Pickens if they are physically unable to get under the salary cap prior to the deadline if they add $28 million to their books, as they currently lie over $31.5 million over the cap<\/a>, 29th in the NFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n But in all likelihood, Pickens will be franchise tagged \u2013 or extended \u2013 this March.<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tDaniel Arwas<\/a> Daniel Arwas is a sports writer who covers the NFL for Heavy.com.\u00a0Daniel began his career in sports writing in 2022 and has covered the NFL and college football for Gridiron Heroics\u00a0and\u00a0The Hammer.
