The Athletic’s Dane Brugler<\/a> recently came out with a 7-round, Giants-only mock draft, where he projected players to the Giants with each of the team’s seven selections.<\/p>\nIt’s important to note that the full draft order beyond the 30th overall pick in the first round is not yet finalized. The draft slot for the Giants’ Day 3 picks in this mock draft are projections.<\/p>\n
Here are the players Brugler predicted to the Giants in his 7-round mock draft, along with the draft analyst’s commentary on each prospect.<\/p>\n
Pick at No. 5: Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State<\/p>\n
Analysis: “Not everyone will be on board with drafting a safety this early, but Downs isn’t a typical safety. He sees the field like a chessboard and plays with the instincts and competitive toughness that impact the game in substantial ways.”<\/p>\n
Pick at No. 37: Chase Bisontis, G, Texas<\/p>\n
Analysis: “Bisontis is an athletic mover with the physicality and competitive toughness that fit what the Giants want on the offensive line.”<\/p>\n
Pick at No. 105: Bryce Boettcher, LB, Oregon<\/p>\n
Analysis: “Fast and physical on every snap, Boettcher plays linebacker with the range and awareness that made him a gold-glove center fielder on the Oregon baseball team.”<\/p>\n
Pick at No.143: Rayshaun Benny, DT, Michigan<\/p>\n
Analysis: “Benny isn’t proven as a pass rusher, but his physicality and quickness as a run defender will make him a valuable part of a defensive-line rotation.”<\/p>\n
