Despite entering the league with concerns about his longevity after suffering two ACL injuries in college, Gore went on to produce one of the most remarkable careers in NFL history at the running back position.

Gore silenced early doubts by becoming the first rookie in 15 years to lead the 49ers in rushing. Over 16 NFL seasons, he rushed for more than 16,000 yards—trailing only Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton on the NFL’s all-time list—while earning five Pro Bowl selections, a second-team All-Pro selection, and a spot on the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.

He finished his career with 81 rushing touchdowns, 19,985 scrimmage yards (fourth-most in NFL history), and 18 receiving touchdowns. Gore remains the 49ers’ all-time leading rusher with 11,073 yards, comfortably ahead of Hall of Famer Joe Perry (8,689).

After his legendary tenure in San Francisco, Gore continued his career with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. He recorded nine 1,000-yard rushing seasons, cementing his legacy as one of the most reliable and durable running backs the NFL has ever seen.

Frank Gore’s career NFL statistics

Year
Team
G
Att
Rush Yds
Rush TD
Rec
Rec Yds
Rec TD

2005
SFO
14
127
608
3
15
131
0

2006
SFO
16
312
1,695
8
61
485
1

2007
SFO
15
260
1,102
5
53
436
1

2008
SFO
14
240
1,036
6
43
373
2

2009
SFO
14
229
1,120
10
52
406
3

2010
SFO
11
203
853
3
46
452
2

2011
SFO
16
282
1,211
8
17
114
0

2012
SFO
16
258
1,214
8
28
234
1

2013
SFO
16
276
1,128
9
16
141
0

2014
SFO
16
255
1,106
4
11
111
1

2015
IND
16
260
967
6
34
267
1

2016
IND
16
263
1,025
4
38
277
4

2017
IND
16
261
961
3
29
245
1

2018
MIA
14
156
722
0
12
124
1

2019
BUF
16
166
599
2
13
100
0

2020
NYJ
15
187
653
2
16
89
0

Total

241
3,735
16,000
81
484
3,985
18

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 has been announced, and former San Francisco 49ers running…

[2080
220,7,6,1161,252,2624,2623
0":"post-733509","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-francisco-49ers","8":"tag-49ers","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-nfl","11":"tag-san-francisco","12":"tag-san-francisco-49ers","13":"tag-sanfrancisco","14":"tag-sanfrancisco49ers
["GET
