The NFL combine is still 3 weeks away, free agency doesn\u2019t start until March 11th, and the NFL draft is still 2.5 months into the future \u2014 so there is time to gab a little bit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">So let\u2019s gab \u2014 really gab. I want to hear everyone\u2019s bold take. A prediction that makes other fans clutch their pearls.<\/p>\n<p>What is your bold offseason prediction? <\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">I think the Bears trade for Dexter Lawrence \u2014 by sending Tyrique Stevenson and picks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Look, I don\u2019t put this on the internet without knowing that a slew of Big Blue View readers will be waiting in the comments section for me. I get it. But, I did say bold, so here we are.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Let\u2019s first take a look at it from the Bears side. Dexter Lawrence is one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL, and has long been the heart and soul of the New York Giants defense. The Bears currently lack talent along the defensive interior. Gervon Dexter (our big Dex) has been inconsistent despite strong sack totals for a DT, and Grady Jarrett was a letdown after signing a big deal in the offseason.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Dexter Lawrence is a 3 time Pro Bowler, and two time 2nd Team All-Pro. As a NT, he has managed gaudy numbers, racking up 30.5 sacks, 40 TFL, and 103 QB hits across 7 seasons while providing a stout presence against the run game. He\u2019s the exact type of guy they could use in the middle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Now let\u2019s look at it from the Giant\u2019s perspective. The Giants have a new coach coming in that is used to winning his way. What is his way, exactly? Long and aggressive defensive backs. Let\u2019s take a look at some players who have excelled under Harbaugh:<\/p>\n<p>Ladarius Webb: 9 Seasons, 15 INTs, 91 PD | 5\u2019-10\u201d, 31.5\u201d ArmsMarlon Humphrey: 9 Seasons, 23 INTs, 104 PD | 6\u2019-0\u201d, 32.25\u201d ArmsNate Wiggins: 2 Seasons, 4 INT, 27 PD | 6\u2019-1\u201d, 30.5\u201d ArmsKyle Hamilton: 4 Seasons, 5 INT, 36 PD | 6\u2019-4\u201d, 33\u201d Arms<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">That\u2019s more than a trend. That appears to be Harbaugh\u2019s defensive cornerstone. Meanwhile, the New York Giants\u2019 defense is built inverse of that. They have stud after stud on the DL, but lack a true playmaker on the back end. Players like Paulson Adebo, Jevon Holland, Dane Belton, and Cor\u2019dale Flott are not exactly game changing players. Despite falling out of favor (weirdly) in 2025, Stevenson has 7 INTs across three seasons, with 38 PDs, and 5 FFs. He is mercurial when playing well and has a knack for creating turnovers. Furthermore, Stevenson has the size Harbaugh appears to desire. At 6\u2019-0\u201d with a 32.25\u201d wing span, he\u2019s rangy and frequently makes plays using his large frame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">If the Bears want to make this trade, they would likely need to add in a 3rd round pick and maybe a day 3 selection to sweeten things. For the Giants, though, you get a CB with a nose for the ball, size, and starting experience while earning some cap relief and draft picks for a new regime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Bears get the missing piece to their defensive line that can help players like Sweat, Booker, G. Dex, and Jarrett thrive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It might be bold \u2014 but I think it could make a lot of sense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Now it\u2019s your turn!
