Former Pittsburgh Steelers <\/a>offensive assistant Matt Baker<\/a> is heading to Cleveland to join Todd Monken and his staff. A former NFL quarterback. Baker was with the Steelers for two seasons, primarily focused on the quarterbacks under Arthur Smith.<\/p>\n

However, Smith departed the organization after Mike Tomlin stepped down. Smith took the Ohio State offensive coordinator job this offseason, but did not bring Baker with him.<\/p>\n

In his career, Baker has coached at the NFL level since 2023. Smith plucked him from Division-III John Carroll and made him a special teams assistant. With the Browns, he will assume the title of assistant quarterbacks coach. <\/p>\n

Baker started his coaching career in 2019 as an analyst focused on quarterbacks before he took the offensive coordinator job at John Carroll.<\/p>\n

An undrafted free agent out of North Carolina in 2006, Baker had a career that spanned multiple teams over the four seasons he was in the NFL. <\/p>\n

Baker played for the Texans, Cowboys, Saints, Cardinals. Bills, and Dolphins. Mike McCarthy is continuing to build his staff out, and has retained only a few of the coaches from Tomlin\u2019s last staff, with the entire offensive side of the ball turning over. <\/p>\n
