The Nebraska Cornhuskers<\/a> are expected to hire Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> assistant coach Tyler Yelk as their new safeties coach, per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.<\/p>\n Yelk has spent the last three seasons in Philadelphia, originally being hired as an assistant to the head coach in 2023 before being promoted to head quality control coach in 2024. He was promoted once again for the 2025 season, serving as a defensive assistant.<\/p>\n Before coaching with the Eagles, Yelk was the safeties coach at Idaho and Temple, also having stints at Northern Illinois, South Dakota, Western Illinois and Minnesota-Duluth.<\/p>\n The Cornhuskers<\/a> announced the hiring of safeties coach Miles Taylor on Jan. 16, but he was quickly hired away by the Baltimore Ravens, thus Nebraska turned to Yelk.<\/p>\n Nebraska was one of the top pass defenses in the country in 2025, allowing just 154.1 passing yards per game. However, they didn’t force many splash plays, ranking 105th in the country with just six interceptions.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
