{"id":734916,"date":"2026-02-07T04:16:18","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T04:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/734916\/"},"modified":"2026-02-07T04:16:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T04:16:18","slug":"cam-skattebo-getting-back-into-it-in-giants-injury-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/734916\/","title":{"rendered":"Cam Skattebo &#8216;getting back into it&#8217; in Giants injury recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2014 Cam Skattebo is jogging.<\/p>\n<p>This is a sign of progress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously not running,\u2019\u2019 Skattebo told The Post on Friday on Radio Row at the Super Bowl. \u201cI just got out of the long process of getting back healthy and I still have a bone healing so I\u2019m getting back into it and having a good time.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Skattebo went down with a devastating injury Oct. 26 in the Week 8 loss to the Eagles. <\/p>\n<p>He went up to catch a pass in the second quarter, came down awkwardly and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/29\/sports\/cam-skattebos-gruesome-giants-injury-was-even-worse-than-it-looked\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suffered a dislocated right ankle<\/a>, in addition to a fractured fibula and ruptured deltoid ligament.<\/p>\n<p>The sight of his ankle pointing the wrong way was ghastly. <\/p>\n<p>He required emergency surgery in a Philadelphia hospital, unable to travel home with the Giants.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38416058\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/44-checked-trainers-tackled-twists-114246704.jpg\" alt=\"Trainers checking on New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (44) after he twisted his ankle.\" class=\"wp-image-38416058\"  \/>Cam Skattebo gets examined by trainers after getting injured during the Giants\u2019 Oct. 26 game. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post<\/p>\n<p>The belief is Skattebo will be ready on some level for the start of the spring football activities and he should be all systems go by training camp.<\/p>\n<p>The high-intensity running back had his season end after eight games and leaving his rookie year behind like that has been difficult for him to deal with. <\/p>\n<p>He posts often on his social media platforms in large part to keep himself busy, with no football to occupy his time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI broke my ankle so I\u2019ve learned a lot about myself, who I am and what I\u2019ve done in the process of getting healthy and what I really want in life and living without football sucks,\u2019\u2019 Skattebo said. \u201cJust understanding that this is what I\u2019m gonna do for hopefully the next 10 years, that\u2019s my plan, that\u2019s my goal. I\u2019m a football player, that\u2019s who I am.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Skattebo said he has spoken \u201ca couple of times\u2019\u2019 with new head coach John Harbaugh and more often with new running backs coach Willie Taggart.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Skattebo, sitting on a couch alongside Jaxson Dart, was making the rounds on behalf of Bounty. <\/p>\n<p>As Dart was speaking, Skattebo reached to grab a chicken wing from a bowl on a table, dipped the wing in blue cheese dressing and then stuffed it into his mouth, not fully succeeding with the stuffing action. <\/p>\n<p>His sweater showed a few wing sauce stains.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38416045\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/new-york-giants-jaxson-dart-120572644.jpg\" alt=\"Jaxson Dart wiping Cam Skattebo's face with a Bounty paper towel.\" class=\"wp-image-38416045\"  \/>Jaxson Dart (l.) and Cam Skattebo (r.) are pictured Feb. 5. AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, no, did I drop one on my lap?\u2019\u2019 Skattebo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, bro,\u2019\u2019 Dart said, laughing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in trouble,\u2019\u2019 Skattebo said. \u201cIt\u2019s alright, we got Bounty. I got Bounty to clean up my wing sauce off of my shirt.\u2019\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Dart, on cue, said \u201cYou can\u2019t have wings without Bounty, Skat. I tried to clean it up and be the wingman for him.
