The New York Giants<\/a> feel very confident that they have found a long-term franchise quarterback in the form of Jaxson Dart.<\/p>\n

After trading back up into the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to land Dart with the No. 25 overall pick, the young signal caller started off the season as Russell Wilson’s backup. It didn’t take long for him to step into a starting role for the Giants.<\/p>\n

Throughout his first season in New York, the 22-year-old quarterback played in 14 regular season games. He completed 63.7 percent of his pass attempts for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions, while also picking up 487 yards and scoring nine more touchdowns on the ground.<\/p>\n

Dart played well enough to be considered a potential candidate to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. However, that result was not in the cards for him.<\/p>\n

When all was said and done, Dart only received one first place vote for the award. That was a result that he took personally.<\/p>\n

Following the voting and the award being given out to Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, Dart spoke out with a strong message to the NFL. It is very clear that he felt snubbed and that he has a chip on his shoulder moving forward.<\/p>\n

“Absolutely,” Dart said<\/a> when asked if he was ticked off. “Just turn off the pictures of the players and just look at the numbers. I feel like they speak for themselves. I don’t need to argue that. But also I have a lot of respect for the other guys that were a part of it as well.”<\/p>\n

He continued on, sending a warning to the rest of the NFL about the snub.<\/p>\n

“It’s just a chip on my shoulder, for sure, but I definitely feel disrespected.”<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, Dart has ever reason to be upset with the voting. He deserved more recognition for the way he played than what he received. Now, it’s up to him to go earn that recognition next season.<\/p>\n

John Harbaugh has taken over as the new head coach of the Giants. New York’s future is looking much brighter with Harbaugh and Dart leading the way. Perhaps the Giants can take a leap into being a potential playoff contender in 2026.<\/p>\n
