Just before halftime of the Jacksonville Jaguars’<\/a> Week 9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>, kicker Cam Little set a new NFL record by making a 68-yard field goal.<\/p>\n

So what was it like in the moments leading up to that kick? Little recently highlighted all that took place in an interview with Jordan Schultz.<\/p>\n

“No, I don’t think we did,” Little told Schultz when asked if the team recognized that it could be a record-breaking kick, “especially at the time it was because we had so many opportunities leading up to the game for last-second, last-in-to-halftime field goal, like we’re going to drive down.<\/p>\n

Little continued, “I’m obviously preparing regardless of how far the kick is that we’re going to kick a field goal, it’s two-minute situation. I was hitting the ball really well in warmup and they’re like would it be crazy to hit a 60-plus this game? We were joking around on the sidelines about it and then later it ended up happening where I was like, ‘oh shoot,’ we’re about to attempt a 68-yard field goal.<\/p>\n

“And Logan (Cooke), my holder, was like, ‘hit it hard man, you’ll make it.’ And so I giggled I was like, ‘yeah, you’re funny man.’ And we obviously went out and made it so it was pretty sick.”<\/p>\n

Following a Raiders’ touchdown, the Jaguars<\/a> began with the ball at their own 31-yard line with only 35 seconds remaining before halftime.<\/p>\n

An 18-yard completion from Trevor Lawrence to Parker Washington would put the Jaguars at midfield, which is in Little’s range.<\/p>\n

Little then described to Schultz what it was like after the kick was made.<\/p>\n

“Oh dude, it was wicked,” Little recalled. “We celebrated at halftime. Liam obviously comes on the field, gives me some love. Obviously, the whole team is fired up at halftime. I think we were losing that game, gathered some momentum back after halftime, and ended up winning that in overtime. A good momentum swing for us for sure.”<\/p>\n

Little’s kick cut the Jaguars’ deficit to 6-3 and that juice and momentum from that kick going through seemed to carry over into the second half, where the Jaguars scored 20 more points in regulation.<\/p>\n
