Deion Sanders did not need long to explain why the NFL no longer holds any appeal for him.<\/p>\n

Appearing on ESPN\u2019s First Take, the Colorado head coach was asked whether anything could convince him to make the jump to professional football. His answer was rooted in what he watched his family endure over the past year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat transpired with my son last year,\u201d Sanders said, pausing before finishing, \u201cain\u2019t no way in the world.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Sanders was referring to the scrutiny surrounding Shedeur Sanders, a season that included uncertainty, criticism and constant evaluation. While much of that played out publicly, Sanders made it clear that the hardest parts happened out of sight.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have no idea of what he\u2019s truly gone through,\u201d Sanders said. \u201cYou just seeing what\u2019s on stage. You never see behind the curtains.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the noise, Sanders said his son emerged stronger, both personally and professionally.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud of him,\u201d Coach Prime said. \u201cI\u2019m happy for him. He\u2019s accomplished something I didn\u2019t do even in his first year.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the conversation later returned to the possibility of coaching in the NFL, Sanders left no ambiguity.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot whatsoever,\u201d he said. \u201cAin\u2019t no way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now entering his fourth season as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes<\/a>, Sanders acknowledged the past year was difficult for more than just football reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a tough year for the Sanders family,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we didn\u2019t falter, man. We didn\u2019t doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sanders emphasized that adversity never stopped their momentum.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe stood there and we fought,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd we [are] back.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Sanders, the lesson was clear. The NFL may be the highest level of the sport, but after watching his son\u2019s journey up close, it is no longer a destination he is willing to pursue.<\/p>\n

Some experiences change everything.<\/p>\n
