The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> almost pulled off a blockbuster trade for Micah Parsons<\/a>. At least, that\u2019s how the former Dallas Cowboys superstar remembers it.<\/p>\n

Parsons, the three-time All-Pro edge rusher, ended up being traded from the Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2025 season. But the Eagles were in the mix to land the Harrisburg native and former Penn State standout.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the Cowboys didn\u2019t trade Parsons to their NFC East rival. But just how close was it to happening? Parsons explained this week on his podcast, Bleacher Report\u2019s \u201cThe Edge.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very close. It was very close,\u201d Parsons said in San Francisco ahead of the Super Bowl. \u201cThe Eagles, before Jaelan Phillips and all of them, it was me. It was me. And I was really about to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parsons, joined by Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown and Panthers quarterback Bryce Young on his podcast, then dove into why the deal didn\u2019t happen from his perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was one person that I had to play with. If he was gone, I did not want to be there. And that was Jalen Carter,\u201d Parsons said. \u201c(Dallas) wanted a d-tackle, and they wanted to trade me, plus some picks. I don\u2019t really care about the picks. But I\u2019m coming to play next to JC, you feel me?\u201d<\/p>\n

So, Parsons basically insinuated that the Eagles offered Carter, the 2024 All-Pro defensive tackle, to the Cowboys in a deal for him. But if the Eagles did that, Parsons didn\u2019t want to play in Philly. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s the first time Carter\u2019s name has been linked to any potential Parsons trade. <\/p>\n

Back in September, FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer<\/a> reported that the Eagles made the \u201cbiggest offer\u201d to the Cowboys for Parsons. Philadelphia was willing to send at least two first-round picks, a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick to Dallas in exchange for the 26-year-old star.<\/p>\n

But as loaded as that package was, the Cowboys \u201cobviously didn\u2019t want to trade\u201d the five-time Pro Bowler to their longtime rival, per Glazer. <\/p>\n

So, Dallas accepted Green Bay\u2019s offer: two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.<\/p>\n

The Eagles moved on by trading for the aforementioned Phillips, sending a third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for the 26-year-old edge rusher just ahead of the trade deadline. Phillips is now a pending free agent.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll see what the Eagles do this offseason to address their need at edge rusher, whether it\u2019s re-signing Phillips, using a high-end pick at the position or both. <\/p>\n

But the answer won\u2019t be Parsons \u2014 even though it almost was months ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Philadelphia Eagles almost pulled off a blockbuster trade for Micah Parsons.
