The Washington Commanders<\/a> had one of the more disappointing campaigns of any team in 2025. After going to the NFC Championship Game in 2024, the Commanders won just five games this season. Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin both dealt with injuries that kept them out for a large chunk of the season, and their defense was amongst the worst in football.<\/p>\n

They allowed the third-most touchdowns in the NFL, and their pass rush lacked a game-changer off the edge. Washington could look to add a proven star on defense this season, and it should be at the top of their to-do list. If they were to look for a star pass rusher in the trade market, the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> could be a name to watch.<\/p>\n

In an appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Ray Fittipaldo of the\u00a0Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u00a0says the Pittsburgh\u00a0Steelers<\/a>\u00a0could receive as much as a second-round pick in exchange for Watt if they were willing to send him to another team.<\/p>\n

\u201cTop Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo said the most the Steelers could probably get in a trade this offseason for TJ Watt is a 2nd round pick,\u201d\u00a0Andrew Fillipponi posted on X.<\/a><\/p>\n

Watt was given a three-year extension last offseason that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. However, he has just 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons after putting up 19 sacks in 2023.<\/p>\n

Washington doesn’t have a second-round pick in 2026, so perhaps a 2027 second-round pick could entice the Steelers, as next year’s class is expected to be deeper.<\/p>\n
