PITTSBURGH Steelers stars are eager to have Aaron Rodgers on the roster.<\/p>\n

While Aaron Rodgers<\/a> has yet to sign with the Steelers<\/a>, members of the roster have shared they are hoping to get him.<\/p>\n

Steelers players are looking forward to getting Rodgers on the rosterCredit: AP<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old quarterback is holding out on signing to deal with some personal issues.<\/p>\n

Rodgers recently hinted on Joe Rogan<\/a>‘s podcast that he had people close to him dealing with cancer.<\/p>\n

He also told Pat McAfee<\/a> that these personal issues come before football at this stage in his life.<\/p>\n

However, the Steelers are hoping he makes a decision sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

Star defender Alex Highsmith made it known that he would love to have Rodgers on the team, but that he needs to get in the locker room soon.<\/p>\n

“I just feel like in the locker room and stuff, we\u2019re in there working, and I think that\u2019s just really what it\u2019s about at this point,” Highsmith said on\u00a0NFL Network<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“I know that if he does sign, we\u2019re definitely going to be really excited to have him.<\/p>\n

“We know who he is. He\u2019s a Hall-of-Fame quarterback. He\u2019s one of the best to ever do it. <\/p>\n

“I wouldn\u2019t say it\u2019s a distraction at all, but we all know what type of quarterback he is and what he brings to the table.”<\/p>\n

The Steelers currently have Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and Mason Rudolph on the roster, but they aren’t the best options as starters.<\/p>\n

Rodgers seems to be only option for the Steelers if they hope to be playoff contenders this year.<\/p>\n

Howard could be an option for the future, but he is a rookie and likely needs time to develop.<\/p>\n

Rudolph is likely the option to start if Rodgers doesn’t end up signing with the Steelers.<\/p>\n

Highsmith has faith in Rudolph if he ends up winning the job.<\/p>\n

“I think we just try to put our best foot forward every day, like with who\u2019s in the building right now,” Highsmith said. <\/p>\n

“I know Mason being there, he\u2019s done a great job. The guys are rallying around him and, like I said, he\u2019s been with us before and guys know him, Pittsburgh fans know him.’<\/p>\n

“The way that he helped us finish in 2023 was awesome. No matter who\u2019s back there for us, whether it\u2019s him or if Aaron Rodgers is gonna come, I\u2019m just excited. <\/p>\n

“Whoever\u2019s back there, we\u2019re gonna have their backs and we\u2019re gonna rally behind them.
